Our owner was just 10 years old when he started volunteering at a local farm
Our owner Stephen Champion was 10 years old when his family moved to an extremely rural environment; a move that would only encourage his interest in animals.
Stephen grew up surrounded by creatures – goats, chickens, cats and dogs - and it wasn’t long before he became involved with the day-to-day running of a local farm. He started with milking the cows and feeding the cattle until he was invited to volunteer on a more permanent basis.
“Spending all my free time on the farm only fed my passion for animal care. And as soon as I started tailing the farm vet, there was no doubt in my mind that a life in veterinary medicine was what I wanted.”
Stephen Champion – Owner and Veterinary Surgeon
After studying for 5 years at Edinburgh University, Stephen graduated and was able to pursue the career that he had worked so hard for. He spent time working with both small and large animals and went on to acquire his first practice in 2000.
Over the last 15 years Stephen has gone above and beyond what is expected of a veterinary surgeon and as a result, he has gained a reputation as a highly respected vet in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.
Stephen personally recommends our VALUVET PRACTICE MEMBERSHIP SCHEME which offers you peace of mind and genuine discounts on all your veterinary care.

Janie Gray – Marketing Assistant at Championvet.com East Kilbride
Since childhood I am been extremely lucky in having the company of various animals...they have ranged from a Buzzard/cat/budgie/ferret etc... But my love is dogs has always been paramount - I just find them fascinating. And, although I love all breeds my favourite is the Border Collie.
I have competed at Obedience (Crufts for good citizens) Agility and have also competed at Sheepdog Trials. I have recently enrolled my dogs and myself in Heelwork to Music, but this is just for fun and keeps them on their toes.
I presently work for Championvet.com advertising their recent additional practise in East Kilbride by driving the advertising trailer, handing out leaflets and promoting their excellent services, arranging visits at the local dog clubs, and occasionally assist at the reception. As an owner of a few dogs I am always assured of continuity in their treatment.
Angela – Groomer at the Pet Empawrium
Hi, I’m Angela your new dog groomer at The Pet Empawrium and Champion Vets. Having been a dog owner and animal lover all my life, my friends and family often told me I preferred animals to people.
I am a trustee, fosterer, transport coordinator and fundraiser for Huskies In Need dog rescue as well as being mum to my own 3 dogs. I realised about 4 years ago it was time to follow my dream and work with dogs full time. I chose dog grooming and trained at Scotgroom in Carluke nearly 3 years ago. Since then I have worked from home to gain some experience until I joined the "family" at Pet Empawrium and Championvet.com in June 2014. Since then I couldn't be happier.

Katy – Head Nurse at Championvet.com Grangemouth
I have worked in veterinary practice for 15 years, and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2002. My special interests are anaesthesia, pain control and obesity in pets. I have a soft spot for daft Labradors, and dogs in general, as well as cats. I also love horses and have a post-graduate diploma in Equine Science. Sadly, we don't see many horses come through the doors at Bo'ness Road!
Every day at Championvet.com in Grangemouth is different, and always busy! My day normally involves settling patients that are having operations and procedures, and taking any blood samples that have been requested. I see lots of patients in the consult room, such as for post-op checks, Weight Clinic, and second vaccinations. I also answer the phone, and help on the reception desk when I can.
After morning consults, I prepare the theatre for the day's surgery, and monitor all patients under their anaesthetic or sedation. I assist the operating vet, and care for the patients in their recovery from anaesthesia. I also carry out some procedures, such as taking x-rays and dental scaling and polishing.
When it is time for patients to go home, I run through post-operative care with their owners, and dispense any medication or special food that is required. I really enjoy my job, and love working with the team at Grangemouth. Hopefully I make a positive difference to the animals in my care, and to their owners too.
